Cookie Policy

This policy applies to subpool.imaginewa.org, the ECE Substitute Pool Portal operated by the Imagine Institute.

Effective date: August 2026  ·  Last updated: August 2026

Beginning August 17, 2026, a portal account and sign in are required to access substitute pool services. Account cookies described in this policy are necessary for sign in to work. Blocking them in the browser will prevent access to the portal.

What cookies are

Cookies are small text files placed on a device when a person visits a website. They allow the site to recognize a browser, keep a signed in session active, and remember settings between visits.

Cookies set by subpool.imaginewa.org are called first-party cookies. Cookies set by outside services used by the portal, such as security and form providers, are called third-party cookies. This policy also covers related technologies with similar functions, including pixels, tags, and browser local storage.

Categories of cookies used

Strictly necessary cookies

These cookies are required for the portal to function and cannot be switched off. They keep users signed in, protect accounts and forms from misuse, and support security screening of incoming traffic. The portal cannot be used without them.

The sign in page offers a Remember Me option. Selecting it extends the life of the authentication cookies so the session stays active after the browser is closed. It is intended for personal devices. On a shared or public computer, users should leave Remember Me unselected and sign out at the end of each session.

Functional cookies

These cookies support portal features and remember user choices. Blocking them does not prevent sign in, but some features may not work as expected.

Google Tag Manager is used to deploy these tags. Google Tag Manager does not set cookies of its own, but it controls which measurement tags load on the portal.

Advertising cookies

The portal does not use advertising or remarketing cookies, and account information is not used to build advertising profiles. If that changes, this policy will be updated before any such technology is activated.

Account data and connected systems

Cookies are used to operate the portal. They are separate from the information users provide in their accounts, such as contact details, availability, and credentials.

The portal exchanges information with the Washington State Department of Children, Youth, and Families MERIT system to confirm training records and qualifications. That exchange is carried out through a direct connection between systems and does not rely on cookies stored on a user device. Handling of that information is described in the Imagine Institute Privacy Policy.

How to control cookies

Browser settings

Most browsers allow users to view stored cookies, delete them, block third-party cookies, or block all cookies. Instructions are available in the help documentation for each browser:

  • Google Chrome: Settings, then Privacy and security, then Third-party cookies
  • Safari: Settings, then Privacy
  • Microsoft Edge: Settings, then Cookies and site permissions
  • Mozilla Firefox: Settings, then Privacy and Security

Blocking cookies from subpool.imaginewa.org will prevent sign in and make the portal unusable. Users who want to limit cookies should block optional categories rather than all cookies.

Signing out

Signing out clears the active session cookies. Users on shared devices should sign out rather than closing the browser window.

Analytics opt out

Google provides a browser add-on that prevents Google Analytics from collecting data, available at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout. Opting out of analytics does not affect the ability to sign in or use the portal.
